         The Global Development for Peace and Leadership (GDPL)educates and trains innovative young adults with skills to improve their capacity in leadership and peace building. We seek to launch sustainable, manageable, content oriented initiatives guided by research, evaluation and constant development. We strive to ensure that the content of our programmes contributes to a strategic initiative to provide quality learning in leadership, peace building and human development. It is out aim to foster a culture of leadership that values humanity, peace, reconciliation and human security. GDPL programmes focus on real contributions to leadership capacity, sustainable peace, and futures scenario planning.

 

         Programmes are geared towards strengthening transitional societies. Its particular focus is on peace building through leadership development, in: personal mastery, human rights, health, gender sensitivities, communication, diversity and difference, religious dialogue, future scenarios planning and human development. Strengthening the conditions and institutions of democracy with training in values-based leadership and human rights as a strategic approach to improving future generations, forms part of the constructive engagement with communities, government, NGOs and other entities.

 

         Our programmes are born out of a deep desire to share the lessons of South Africa’s non-violent and peaceful transition from apartheid to a multi-racial democracy. It aims to promote peaceful co-existence where human beings live harmoniously in full respect of one another regardless of any physical barriers.  It provides an oasis of hope in a world where cultural wars, civil wars and cross-border wars diminish social, economic, political and human infrastructure.

 

         Our training works in the context of human, social and political strife, its pedagogical methodology focuses on upholding human dignity and respect, building togetherness, and activating young people’s involvement in leadership efforts, promoting greater social and community development.
